FTP hosted its annual vigil recognizing the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women last evening. This annual event is not only a time to remember and reflect but it is also a reminder and a call for action. Every year, this day serves as a painful and emotional reminder that we continue to have much work to do to end gender-based violence—and we know we can’t do it without the support of our communities.
Thank you to everyone who braved the cold temperatures to join us. Special thanks to our guest speakers—Danielle and Helen—for sharing their powerful stories and poems, and clay artist, Ann Randeraad, for her beautiful sculpture “Infinitude,” which will be permanently installed at the front of our building this coming spring. You can read Ann’s powerful artist’s statement here.
