On September 24th, Penny and Gus Bogner held the 6th annual Ferguson Memorial Walk in honour of their beloved daughter, Heidi Ferguson. They lost Heidi in a tragic domestic dispute in September 2009 and established this event to not only turn their personal family tragedy into something hopeful, but to also increase awareness about violence against women, and to raise funds in support of the important programs and services provided by Family Transition Place.
Penny and Gus had a goal in mind for this year’s event. Over the first five years, the Bogner’s —with help from their committed group of volunteers — had raised a remarkable $78,000. This year, they were determined to reach the incredible milestone of $100,000. And they did. Their hard work and unwavering dedication, along with the support of their many sponsors, donors, and participants, produced an incredible $22,000 at this year’s event and they accomplished their goal.
