According to the Canadian Association for Suicide Prevention, it is estimated that each day in Canada, 11 people will end their life and 210 will attempt to.
September 10 marks World Suicide Prevention Day.
This year, we are asking all to get involved in suicide prevention awareness by wearing a specially designed yellow and orange ribbon, that is symbolic of a candle flame. The thought is that these colours illicit feelings of hope, like the dawning of sunrise on a new day. FTP staff are showing their support in the attached picture.
If you would like to pick up a free ribbon to share your hope, you can come by Family Transition Place between Monday to Friday between 8:30-4:30pm.
If you need help or know of someone that is struggling there are resources to help. For more information or if you are in need of help, please visit, www.suicideprevention.ca or in Caledon: www.caledon.ca/crisis or Dufferin, visit https://sacwd.ca/
